A typical day at Penmoor Nursery

A daily routine gives children a sense of security. This is why we ensure each day has a  structured base from which to provide a range of spontaneous activities. It is quite usual for some groups to be following the programme of activities below whilst others are out in our mini bus or joining in a sports activity with a visiting instructor

Each day's programme of  activities are chosen through a variety of ways. Staff take turns on a weekly basis to plan each area of the setting so that the focus rotates between each group in turn.We look at the current topic to identify relevant vocabulary and creative ideas to enhance learning. We also look at recent observations to identify where and how children have chosen to play and the manner in which they choose to learn, so that we might provide opportunities for them to continue and further enhance their learning and development. Our final and most important key for planning is asking the children directly. This input is hugely valuable as the children are experts in their own learning.
